A month-long celebration of exciting sports activities, tournaments, fun art workshops and cultural activities for both locals and tourists to enjoy during the summer season.
ALL systems go for the staging of the Sports Development Division-City Mayor’s Office (SDD-CMO) Summer Sports Festival, dubbed “Summerfest 2017” slated May 24 to 28 at the Davao Crocodile Park Grounds. SDD-CMO executive program director Cindy Cruz-Enerio, in a Facebook chat, said they finalized the schedule of events during the meeting with SDD-CMO officer-in-charge Michael Denton Aportadera last Friday, May 5. “The first two days will be the summer clinic including basic mountaineering seminars while the three remaining days will be allocated for elite competition,” Enerio said. The P1.7 million sportsfest will feature eight outdoor activities including frisbee, football, obstacle course, drone racing, trail running, wall climbing criterium cycle race, rugby football and aero marathon.
Basics of football, frisbee, wall climbing, rugby football and football will be featured in the clinics. Competition is set for obstacle race, rugby football, football, drone racing, aero marathon and criterium cycling. Enerio earlier said this will be the city’s first weeklong sportsfest held in one venue.
Close to 1,000 participants are expected to vie for honors including children in conflict with the law, drug reformists and out-of-school youth. Most participants, however, will come from City Social Services and Development Office.
Walk-in participants may sign up at Crocodile Park before the games begin.
