Dabawenyos, which is how local residents of the cityare mostly Visayans. The rest of the population are lumads or indigenous people (IP) belonging to different ethnolinguistic groups.

Davao City boasts of unity in diversity among the city’s population including the 11 groups with respect for one’s culture and traditions. Dabawenyos, migrants,lumads, not to mention ethnic Americans, Chinese, Koreans, Indians and Japanese Indonesians and Malaysians, co-exist in a city that is said to be one of the world’s safest cities.
